Our workshop has been making frost proof ceramics since 1989. First we make up the clay mixture to fit the particular project. Then the objects are moulded, modelled and decorated by hand. They are fired at 1200°C to give them their unique rusticity and durability. Over the years we have expanded the business and besides classic garden pots we make indoor, decorative, architectural and functional ceramics to satisfy all kinds of demands.

Our site aims to provide as much information as possible but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Can Sefcsik-ceramics be left outdoors in winter?
Of course. All of our ceramics are frost proof.

What kind of shapes can be ordered?
Any shape can be chosen within the limits of the imagination and physics. We make anything that can be made of this material. Naturally, we have some standard shapes which are usually available from stock.

What kind of decorative patterns can be ordered?
We do not have precast patterns so each and every one is applied by hand according to the customers’ fancy. We certainly prefer classical or time-honoured motifs but that is more in the nature of a recommendation.

How big is the largest object that can be ordered?
The maximum size is determined by the interior volume of the kiln, which is 110 × 110 × 110 cm at the moment. So that is the maximum size that can be fired in one piece but we often carry out larger orders by putting together several smaller pieces, mainly in the case of architectural or decorative ceramics.

How long will I have to wait for my order?
Depending on the character of the particular order, the weather and the current workload we may be able to satisfy a request in four or five days. Also, we always have a large number of pieces on stock so it is possible to take away the selected ones immediately.

How can these ceramics be transported?
They can be transported very well as the material is very strong and can stand stress. However, if they are transported by car, it is recommended to put some cardboard or blankets under and between the ceramics to protect the interior of the car and to prevent the objects knocking each other. That way we can ensure that they arrive at their destination in the same state as they set out on their journey.

Is home delivery a viable option?
Normally we do not deliver the ceramics to your door but in some cases delivery is available by arrangement.

Why do these ceramics cost so much?
Each product is unique, frost proof and comes with a special warranty. We acquire the basic materials from several sources and we make up the clay mixture. Each piece is handcrafted: moulded, modelled and decorated. When clay has eventually taken the desired shape, the next step is a long drying process. Finally it is fired at 1200°C in the gas kiln. This time-consuming and energy-intensive procedure guarantees the complete satisfaction of our customers, who are enriched with lasting quality when they buy the ceramics made here.

Is there some discount?
It depends on the order but we tend to adopt a flexible attitude when it comes to pricing. We particularly appreciate regular customers. Also, rejects sometimes with only some minor aesthetic defects can be purchased at discounts up to 50 per cent. It is advisable to inquire about the latter in person.

Is it possible to deal in Sefcsik ceramics as a distributor, retailer, outlet, garden centre or florist’s?
Obviously. However, there is one important stipulation: we cannot accept consignment arrangements. Thank you for your consideration.

When are business hours?
On weekdays we welcome visitors in the standard business hours. In the evenings, at weekends or on holidays the workshop is open by appointment.
